More demand 6th Pay Commission

IMPHAL, Dec 27 :The agitation launched by the JAC of AMGEO and AMTUC to press the State Government to implement the 6th Pay Commission among other demands is set to assume a bigger proportion with employees from departments which come under the essential services set to participate in the said stir.

The JAC launched the agitation from November 27 this year, demanding among other things the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission. With the State Government yet to officially give the go ahead to the implementation of the new pay commission, the employees of the State Health and Family Welfare Department have closed down the OPD at the JN Hospital for three days with effect from today.

The employees have also decreed that if a solution is not brought within the said three days period, they would intensify their stir from January 2 next year. If still nothing positive comes out then they would start discharging in-house-patients from the hospital from January 3. If the Government still does not budge by then, they would close down the Casualty and Emergency Wards of JN Hospital.

Twenty Points Programme reports, Delhi not at all amused with inconsistencies

IMPHAL, Dec 27 : In connection with implementation of the Centrally funded Twenty Points Programme (TPP), 2006 in the State, the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, which is monitoring the scheme, has pointed out various inconsistencies in the monthly reports of the various departments submitted to the Ministry through the State Planning Board.

The inconsistencies came to light after comparing the reports submitted by the departments to their respective Ministries.

Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a reliable source informed that after the matter was brought to the notice of the Ministry by the Secretary (Co-ordination and Planning of Union Cabinet Secretariat), the Secretary of the Ministry Pronab Sen has issued necessary instructions to the Chief Secretary of the State.

In his letter to the Chief Secretary, Pronab Sen conveyed that Secretary of (Co-ordination and Planning) has expressed deep concern over the low percentage achievement against proportionate targets fixed in respect of the schemes of the Department of Rural Development and Public Health Engineering Department and that the figures of the targets and performance as reported to the Ministry and those available with the administrative Ministries concerned need to be reconciled.

Pronab Sen further communicated that after an excercise to reconcile the month-wise performance achievement with regard to the schemes implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development, it has been observed that there is wide variation in the performance achievement figures repor-ted to the Ministry of Rural Development and to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implemen-tation.

Moreover, when certain information are reported as ‘nil’ to one Ministry, a significant figure has been quoted to another Ministry leading to wide variations between the percentage achievement viz-a-viz the targets reported to the two Ministries.
