Imphal, April 29 2009: CHIENGKAWNPANG village, the largest settlement of the Gangtes founded by Pu Khuppau Suktung in Churachandpur district is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee on May 1 at Chiengkawnpang Village Community Hall, Churachandpur.
T Phungzathang, Minister of Power, Horticulture and SC, Science and Tech, Government of Manipur and S Doulienkap Gangte, Chief Engineer, IFCD will grace the 75th years commemoration programme as the Chief Guest and Functional President respectively, according to the Diamond Jubilee Committee.
Showcasing of cultural dances of six communities - Gangte, Meitei, Paite, Simte, Thadou and Vaiphei �presentation of songs by Jubilee Choir, final selection of Jubilee Star, live performance by popular musical band 'Mystic Ministry' and othercelebrated crooners, etc will be the main attractions of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration, the organisers informed.
Other highlights of the event include paying obeisance to the departed villagers, giving oblation to the Almighty, beating Jubilee Gong, etc.
