Green signal for 627 women cops recruitment, CS report on SoO deliberated

IMPHAL, Jul 10: The State Cabinet today deliberated on the report of the Chief Secretary who presided a meeting concerning suspension of operation with Kuki armed groups at New Delhi in May besides approving fresh recruitment of 627 women police personnel.

According to an informed source, today’s cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister O ibobi Singh thoroughly deliberated on the Chief Secretary’s report with regard to the SoO session at the National capital even though no resolution on the issue was adopted.

Disclosing that the New Delhi session included separate meetings with representatives/leaders of the United people’s Front and Kuki National Organisation, the source said apart from the Chief Secretary Manipur’s Director General of Police and Inspector general of Police (Intelligence) took part in the SoO meeting.

On the women police recruitment issue, the Cabinet consented to creation of 12 post of Inspector rank and 12 Assistant Sub Inspectors from the total strength of 627 lady cops.

Significantly, it was decided that 32 post of Sub Inspector would be created besides conducting direct recruitment to fill up 10 vacant post of ASI rank.

Other resolutions adopted that meeting include extension of service superannuation age of college lecturers by a year to 60 years in compliance with the UGC guidelines and to amend Manipur Judicial Service Rule as had been decreed by the Supreme Court. Welfare measures/schemes un- der relevant Labour laws of personnel employed in recognised firms such as insurance cover, service condition improvement etc also figured in the meeting with consequent approval.
