According to official reports, markets, shops and business establishments remain close during the strike organised by Joint Action Committee (JAC). The attendance in government offices was below normal.
All transport services within Manipur and to neighbouring states were cancelled. Strike supporters blocked roads in the capital town and neighbouring areas, the reports said.
L Angouba, cousin of Manipur Education Minister L Jayenta Kumar, was killed on June 4 by police commandos. They alleged that Kumar was a sympathiser of militants. PTI
