Drivers abducted on NH-39

Imphal, Oct 27: Amidst condemnations and criticisms pouring in from different organizations following the incident of setting ablaze a passenger bus wherein two passengers were charred to death at Loharijan in Assam by the Kuki Liberation Organisa-tion/Kuki Liberation Army (KLO/KLA), trouble continues to dog National Highway-39 with report of abduction of three freight truck drivers by suspected militants on Sunday, reaching here today. According to a highly reliable source, the incident took place on October 26.

Further, the sources revealed that the drivers were abducted for failing to pay annual taxes to a particular outfit.

The registration numbers of the trucks have been identified as NL07A-7976, MN02-6366 and MN061-0263.

ZRF urges

IMPHAL, Oct 27: Zomi Re-Unification Front (ZRF) asked its ex-cadres and family members died as the cadres of ZRF to come at the head offices and meet PS Hongbhing on or before November 15. Bandh called off

IMPHAL, Oct 27: The JAC Against the Killing of Pao-minlal and Haokhohen has withdrawn its decision of imposing indefinite bandh from midnight today following settlement of the issue as per the customary laws of the Kuki people.

In a joint statement, JAC chairperson Rose Mangshi Haokip and secretary Zabi-aksang Vaiphei informed with the concerted efforts of Pu TN Haokip and Pu Manga Vaiphei and the Chief Minister of Manipur, deadlock over the killing of Paominlal and Haokholen by the Police Commandos has been settled as per the customary laws of the Kuki people. As a result, the decision to call an indefinite bandh in the State has been withdrawn.

The JAC has also extended its gratitude to KSO, Zillai and other organisations for their support in securing justice for the two deceased and their bereaved families.

CCpur correspondent adds: Condemning in the strongest term the killing of two Haukhogen Misao and Paominlal Vaiphei by security forces at Maharabi on 23 October, CDSU today said such a killing in the pretext of counter insurg-ency is more than the act of extremism which will even-tually adrift the public con- fidence on security forces.

KNA claims killing

Lamka, Oct 27: Kuki National Army today said it had awarded capital punishment to one of its ‘women cell’cadre on charges of misappropriating party funds and abortive attempts to form new party.

‘‘She did really deserve what she had been awarded (as there is no way out) as a non-commital cadre of the KNO and not as a cadre belonging to other outfits, clan or tribe,’’ said the statement issued by CL Kuki, Wing Commander of VI, the wing in which Domneithem alias Thethem Haokip had served as a Finance Accountant before her demise.

Besides non-commitment to the Kuki Cause she was also unconsciously involved in the activities of UNLF and UKLF, it said.
