IMPHAL, Dec 29 : The armed group Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) celebrated its 10th raising day today at its General Hqs. The main features of the raising day celebration were offering of revolutionary salute to the outfit’s late leaders and cadres, entertainment and cultural programmes.
The celebration was attended by representatives of several Kuki organisations, student bodies and the general public.
The function kick-started with the hoisting of the party’s flag by its general secretary Johnson Hangsing.
Conveying best wishes on the occasion of the raising day and the new year, KRA publicity secretary Th Misao called upon all Kuki armed groups to bury all forms of confrontations and conflicts among the Kuki UG groups.
Not only with Kuki UG groups, the KRA wished to work together in peace with all the insurgent groups of the North East region, he said. Greeting the people of Manipur on the arrival of new year, Misao called up-on all for mutual love and peaceful co-existence. Wi-th the objective to regain the erstwhile Kukigam (Kuki-land) that allegedly existed before the British invasion, the KRA was set up on December 29, 1999 under the leadership of late K Hangsing, Misao said. Saying that Kukis ruled over their ancestral land freely before the arrival British colonists, Th Misao noted that the uprising of Kukis against annexation of their land by British in 1917-19 is known as Kuki Rebellion in history. He further claimed that Kukigam covers Chittago-ng hill tracts of Bangladesh, Saigang division of Myan-mar and several parts of India.
KRF salutes, greets KRA
