IMPHAL, Jan 1 – The Korean Embassy in India has reportedly expressed their interest in opening a Korean language study centre in Manipur University to cater to the people who would like to learn Korean, either at primary level or at high school level.
The move was initiated following Manipur Education minister Langpoklakpam Jayanta Kumar Singh-led four member delegation’s request in a meeting with Republic of Korea’s ambassador Young Sun Back in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The other defelation members are Mangsatabam Harekrishna, Director, Education (S) and additional secretary of Education and Naoroibam Ratan Meetei, a social worker. The Korean delegation consisted of Cultural Secretary of Korea and professor, JK Kim of UNU. This is the second such meeting between Manipuri delegates and Korean government for extending collaboration. The first one was held on December 10 last year.
The proposal included short one year diplopma courses for professional skilled workers who want to learn Korean for job opportunities in Korea.
