NCSC: Great dawn for Nagaland, distant dream for many

Secretary, science and technology, government of Nagaland K.T Sukhalu said "teachers play the most important role in the development of science, as they are carriers of knowledge; a bridge between the children and the science theory".

He was speaking at the inaugural function of Science Activity corner at NCSC venue, Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School, Dimapur Saturday.

At the inaugural function, a rally was also organized by child scientists of all states, tree saplings were planted by member states and Nagaland Police bands enlightened the gathering with some mesmerizing numbers. The chief guest also inspected some activity stalls.

Later, Science Teacher Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. D.K Pandey scientist-E, DST, New Delhi at Delhi Public School. Speaking on the inaugural function, the chief guest emphasized on the value of teachers in progress of science.

He said also said the Science Congress was a golden opportunity not only for children but for teachers and for science learners. "Whatever one learns in the classroom could be used in day to day life and activity." He urged the teachers to imbibe knowledge in order to inspire children and further initiate interest in them.

NCSC department has developed about 20 modules on life sciences include role of micro organism, social insect, biological kits.

Dr. A. K. Goswami, chairman NCSTC- network described the NCSC held at Nagaland as "a great dawn for Nagaland, a distant dream for many". He also urged the teachers to be updated in the development of science, which in turn would help the society.

Dr. A.K Goswami also briefed the gathering on the advancement of India's space mission and science technology. "India has succeeded in space programs which many countries have failed" he equipped. Others who spoke on the occasion included Dr. Inakhe Sumi.

Other dignitaries who attended the programme were D.C Dimapur Maongwati Aier, S.P Dimapur Liremo Lotha and V.Z Angami additional SP, Dimapur. Earlier the programme began with presentation of bouquets, lightening of lamp by the dignitaries.

Welcome address was delivered by Pallavi Upadhyaya, principal DPS, Dimapur and vote of thanks was proposed by Santu Thapa coordinator NIHESW.
