KLA cadres held by ZRA | SoO meeting to fix date for signing of agreement today

IMPHAL, Aug 8: Two KLA/KNO activist inclu-ding its Finance Secretary were picked up today by ZRA cadres while they were allegedly bullying a couple of villagers forcibly to pay ransom at about 11 am. Parading the duo, Muol-hoiphai and Buong-jang at an undis-closed location later in the day before the media, ZRA’s town commander Romeo said they were taken in their custody for deman-ding ransoms to two Zomi villages. Commander-in-chief of KLA/KNO, Arms- trong Gangte meanwhile assured a befitting punish- ment for the duo today.

SoO meeting to fix date for signing of agreement today

IMPHAL, Aug 7: Another round of meeting between the Manipur government, government of India and Kuki National Organization, KNO, a body representing 11 Kuki based militants will be held tomorrow at New Delhi to fix the date on which the suspension of operation, SoO is to be signed.

The meeting is to be held at a Hotel in New Delhi tomorrow.

State chief secretary Rakesh along with the DGP, Y Joykumar left Imphal today to attend the meeting from the state government side, an official source said Thursday.
The source also said that the scheduled meeting will finalize the date on which the agreement on the ground rules for suspension of operation is to be signed. The state government had already authorized the state principal secretary home to sign the agreement.

Principal home secretary, DS Poonia will head to New Delhi after the scheduled meeting of tomorrow fixes the date.

Mention may be made that the ground rules for the suspension of operations have already been finalized at the trilateral talks between the representatives of the KNO, Manipur government and government of India represented by the officials of the Union ministry of home affairs held on July 14 and 15 last at New Delhi.
The state Cabinet had also approved the ground rules agreed to at one of the meetings held in the last week of July.

Sources disclosed that the scheduled meeting at New Delhi, which the state chief secretary and DGP are to attend, will only fix the date on which the trilateral agreement will be signed and the principal secretary home will be signatory from the Manipur government’s side.

In the absence of the chief secretary, the principal secretary, home, DS Poonia is looking after the charge of the chief secretary while the DGP’s work is being looked after by A Romenkumar, additional director general of police (Intelligence).

KSO clarifies

Lamka, Aug 8: KSO Churachandpur today said the press statement issued by Prepak’s self styled secretary incharge Department of Publicity & Propaganda as really unfortunate and uncalled and clarified that it has not leveled any allegation against any particular group of people or organisation while hosting a press conference for a kidnap child, reports our Chura-chandpur correspondent.

Claiming that it took up the case to aired the plight/grievances and insecurity of school going children so as to take up preventive measures in future, the KSO said ‘in view of one narrow political ideology by some political netas of this generation of our, KSO/CCPur, being concerned for all of us today, would like to sound wake up call to all stake holders irrespective of one’s racial or narrow political affiliations, to work unitedly towards systematic reversal of those ill-conceived design’.
