IMPHAL, Oct 1: The State Government introduced three Bills from its side during the Assembly session today.
The Bills are likely to be taken up for discussion for passing at the next sitting of the Assembly on October 6.
The three Bills which were tabled in the house today are Manipur Municipality Disclosure Bill, 2008; Manipur Panchayati Raj (5th Amendment) Bill, 2008 and Manipur Hill Areas District Council (3rd Amendment) Bill, 2008. The Bills were introduced by the Ministers con-cerned.
Prior to tabling the Bills, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh presented the 8th report of the Business Advisory Committee and Social Welfare Minister N Loken presented the report of the Select Committee on Manipur Compulsory Registration of Marriage Bill, 2008. MLA O Joy, who is also the Chairman of Public Account Committee presented the 31st and 32nd report of the Committee.

Bandh suspended
IMPHAL, Oct 1: Kuki People’s Forum (KPF), Chandel district has suspended the proposed 48-hour district wide bandh scheduled to commence from 6 pm of Oct 2 as a result of negotiation arrived at the office chamber of the DC between KPF and the chairman of DRDA regarding the deadlock over unequal distribution of the BRGF District Common Fund.

Health camp at Motbung
IMPHAL, Oct 1: District Medical Mobile Unit Senapati under the supervision of National Rural Health Mission organised a health camp on September 27 at Motbung PHC. In all, 498 patients were examined by 66 doctors during the camp. X-ray, ultrasound, ECG, blood and urine testing facilities were also provided during the camp.

Army gifts artificial leg
Lamka, Oct 1: A twenty six year old youth, one the several victims of IEDs planted across the interior district when the Army launched an offensive to clear the region of valley based insurgents yesterday return with an artificial leg, two and a half years after his leg was amputated.
Welcoming their ward after the Army gifted him an artificial leg at its Pune ALC, family and village elders along with student organizations hold a simple welcoming ceremony today at Tuibuang and honour the state forces for their assistance. Injured after stepping on an IED near their village in Thanlon sub-division’s Thenjol on 24 January 2006, Lhunkhothang Haokip underwent three major surgeries and a couple of amputation on his right leg, before he receive the artificial limb. Initially the victim’s leg was amputated below the knee but due to infection it was again amputate on the thigh.
Speaking on the occasion, Lhukhothang personally thank the village chief of Thenjol, student leaders who guided him and the Government of India and the Army in particular for restoring his mobility despite the tragic incident that has besieged his youth.
