Manipur observes the 66th Anniversary of flag hoisting Day of the Indian National Army

NETV Bureau, April 14th: Manipur observed the 66th Anniversary of flag hoisting Day of the Indian National Army at Martyrs’ Memorial Complex in Moirang district. The 14th of April is the day when the victorious Indian National Army hoisted the Tri-color flag of the Azad Hind Government for the first time on Indian soil in 1944.

The victorious Indian National Army made Moirang their head quarters for their operations in Manipur and Naga hills. This is the place where INA defeated the mighty British on mainland India and hoisted the flag of free India on 14 April, 1944. The victory of Moirang by Azad Hind Fauj under the leadership of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose brought about a situation where British could no longer command the loyalty of the Indian soldier.

Today the 66th Anniversary of flag Hoisting Day of the Indian National Army was observed at the Martyrs’ Memorial Complex paying tributes to the great Heroes. Significantly like every year the Akhil Bharatiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad which constitutes of ex-servicemen from all over India participated on the occasion.

Altogether 40 ex-servicemen from across the Nation paid their homage to the martyrs. It may be mentioned that the provisional government of free India and the Indian National Army founded by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in 1943 outside Indian borders, launched India’s last struggle against foreign rule for the emancipation of India which acted as a catalyst for country’s freedom.
