Saikul killings | KNO/KLA refutes, accuses KRA

By Our Staff Reporter

IMPHAL, May 26: Refuting the claim of Saikul Police, KNO/KLA has asserted that the allegation of innocent civilians killed by the KRA group during a clash with KRA is baseless and decried OC of Saikul Police for not informing the truth to the media.

In a statement signed by Armstrong Gangte, information and publicity of KNO/KLA said that Lamkholen Chongloi was a cadre of KRA and he was slain by his own colleagues and inter-conflict within KRA led to his death.

Regarding recovery of arms and encounter between the two armed groups as claimed by Th Misao, it was baseless and unacceptable as the whole people knew the truth, the statement said, adding that none of the KNO/KLA cadres were involved in the killing of four innocent civilians and KRA can learnt the truth from its mother organisation (NSCN-IM).

While appealing to all the civil societies, NGOs and media to understand and report the truth without any bias, KNO/KLA has also strongly condemned the incident at Bunglung village in which village authority members were allegedly beaten up by KRA cadres.

Meanwhile the Kuki Inpi, Manipur has strongly condemned the killing of four innocent civilians and assault of six civilians on May 24.

In a statement KIM said that the KRA should clarify to the Kuki people why it resorted the killing of civilians at Saijang village at a time when mutual understanding is the need of the hour among the Kuki people.

Discriminatory killings along clannish lines will not serve any purpose for the Kuki people, it maintained and added that the killing of a PRO of the KRA in March this year along with four others is equally reprehensible.

KIM also urged all UG groups involved in fratricidal killings to clean up its act according to the Kuki customary laws so that the wrongs of the past may be rectified. The statement added that KIM also conveys its condolence to the bereaved family members for the irreparable loss.
