SHILLONG: Shillong has once again regained its past glory with the seventh Indian Institute of Management (IIM) coming up here.
The seventh ace business school of the country — Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management (RGIIM) — will be formally inaugurated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Donkupar Roy at the North Eastern Hill University (Nehu) Mayurbhanj complex at Nongthymmai here on Friday.
"It has been a long-standing demand of the people in the region. Finally, their dream will come true," the CM said.
Sixty students, who appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2007, have been selected for the institute's flagship programme — Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM). The intake capacity will be increased to 120 in the third year and 180 in the sixth year.
The Meghalaya government has provided 120 acre for the institute, free of cost, for setting up the permanent campus of the RGIIM at the New Shillong Township.
