Imphal, Jul 1: The state Cabinet in its meeting held this afternoon presided by chief minister O Ibobi at his official bungalow approved the affiliation of three schools from the state to the CBSE.
The three shcools approved by the cabinet for affiliation are Mega Manipur School, Yaralpat, National Sports Academy, Khuman Lampak and Mt. Everest Higher Secondary School, Senapati.
According to a highly placed source, the state Cabinet meeting minutely discussed proposals from various schools for the state government’s approval for affiliation to the CBSE before giving permission to the three shcools after considering their outstanding record and increasing enrollment of students.
The state Cabinet also further approved the upgradation of seven government high schools to the higher secondary level.
The seven high schools are the Purul High School in Senapati district, Maha Union High School in Chandel district, Moreh High School in Chandel district, NK Somdar High School in Ukhrul district, Phungyar High School in Ukhrul district, Heirok part-I High School in Thoubal district and Sugnu High School in Thoubal district.
The Cabinet also discussed the proper implementation of school infrastructure of Moreh High school which has been approved for the upgradation to the higher secondary status due to the high enrollment of students from various communities as well as students from neighbouring Myanmar. At the same time, the proposal for upgradation of Gandhi Memorial High School at Tuibong in Churachandpur district has been deferred for discussion in the next Cabinet meeting, the source added.
The official source also further mentioned that the state Cabinet discussed the site selection for Transport Nagar in the state capital. During the discussion the existing Koirengei airfield, which is occupied by the army, has been proposed as the best location for the establishment of the Transport Nagar.
The Cabinet meeting considered the holding of a high level meeting presided by the chief minister, with invitations being sent to the GOC 57 Mt Div, officials of town planning, PDA officials and revenue officials for allocation of the land at the site.
Further, the state Cabinet also approved the introduction of computer science and engineering drawing subjects in Class XI and XII at higher secondary schools in the state.
The Cabinet also took serious note of the proposals from the state works department over the finalisation of the project reports for the construction and maintenance of NH-53 (A) starting from Nungba along NH-53 and NH-150 from Thinungei in Bishnupur and NH-39 in Thoubal and construction of Imphal urban by-pass road as assured by the ministry of shipping, road transport and highways during a meeting held in New Delhi on June 24.
The Cabinet today decided to submit detailed project reports to the Centre after making full survey of the proposed sites for construction in the nearest furture, the official source added.
In the meantime, the Cabinet also approved establishment of a polytechnic in Senapati district and said the concerned department would be going on a visit of the site for construction of the polytechnic in Senapati district shortly.
Later, the Cabinet meeting deferred the two agendas, including construction of Institute of Performing Arts at Gurgaon in Hariyana and the status of appointment of primary teachers in the state due to the lack of technical documentation during today’s meeting.
