Manipur Bus fare revised

IMPHAL, Oct 4: In a meeting held this evening, the State Cabinet has revised the rates of fare, freight and hiring charges of commercial vehicles. Accordingly, fare of ordinary bus, city bus/mini bus and Inter-State luxury bus would be respectively Rs 0.53, Rs 0.57 and Rs 0.83 per passenger for every kilometre while the freight and hiring charges of Inter-State truck, local truck (heavy) and local mini-truck would be Rs 0.38, Rs 0.34 and Rs 0.42 per quintal for every kilometre respectively.

Consequent to the Cabinet decision, Commissioner (Transport) H Imocha Singh has also issued an order in this regard. The order explained that the revised rates are illustrative only and the detailed rates of all types of commercial vehicles including the hiring charges shall be published in the Manipur Extraordinary Gazette shortly. In view of this position, Commissioner (Transport) has also made an earnest appeal to All Manipur Bus Owners’ Association to withdraw the ongoing vehicular bandh which has been launched Statewide indefinitely since yesterday and to resume their normal public transport servi e immediately in public interest.

Meanwhile, the transporters’ body in a release announced withdrawal of its chakka-bandh agitation and conveyed to transport operators to resume service from tomorrow.
