Churachandpur teachers protest demanding salary hike

Lamka, Jan 12: An estimated 300 to 400 numbers of teachers from government run schools at various places in the district of Churachandpur launched a sit-in protest at the Churachandpur government high school today from about 10 am.


The protesters were demanding implementation of the 6th pay commission in toto and the protest was organised by the Churachandpur District Teachers Association in collaboration with the All Manipur Elementary School Teachers Association, AMESTA.

Speaking to the media at the protest site president of the CDTA said that in line with the implementation of 6th pay commission elsewhere in In dia prices of all commodities had been spiralling whereas their salary amount remained the same.

While highlighting the hardship faced by the public he said that the government had to reconsider their stand before things went out of hand.

The protest will continue till the demands are met otherwise the body would not hesitate to even court mass arrest, the president said.

The protest sat for dharna upto around 3.30 pm today.
