Five new Cabinet Ministers started attending their respective offices in the New Civil Secretariat Building at New Capital Complex today. The Revenue Minister, Mr. JH Rothuama who occupied office of the former minister, Mr. B. Lalthlengliana’s room occupied the Ministers chair with a devotion which was conducted by Rev. B. Lalnghakliana, the Pastor of Vaivakawn pastorate.

He dedicated the new minister and his office to God to enable him to serve the people in the fairest manner. The Department officers of Land Revenue and Settlement and Cooperation, party workers and his well wishers also attended the devotion. The new Law Minister, Mr. Lalsawta, who occupied the former office of Dr. Lalzama also occupied his new office with a devotion which was conducted by Rev. C. Zosangliana. Some officers of the Departments placed under his charge, party workers and his friends were also presented at the function. The new Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Mr. H. Rohluna also occupied Ministers chair today with a prayer. The devotion was conducted by Aizawl Bishop, Most Rev. Stephen Rotluanga, who dedicated his office to the Glory of God so that the Minister can serve the people with justice and equality. The function was attended among others by the officers of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Environment and Forest Department. Mr. H. Rohluna occupied the room of the former Minister, Mr. H. Vanlalauva. The new Health Minister, Mr. Lalrinliana also occupied Ministers chair today with a brief devotion conducted by Mr. Zaneihtluanga, a prominent Church elder of Upper Republic. The function was attended among others by the officials of his Department such as Health and Family Welfare, Labour and Employment, Trade and Commerce, Party workers and his well wishers. Mr. Lalrinliana Sailo sits in the room which was occupied earlier by the School Education Minister, Dr. R. Lalthangliana. The new Information Minister Mr. Zodintluanga also started attending his office from today with a brief devotion which was conducted by Rev. Lalchungnunga The function was attended among others by the Party workers, his well wishers and officers of his Departments such as Urban and Poverty Alleviation, Information and Public Relations, Sports and Youth Services and Information and Communication Technology Departments. Mr. Zodintluanga is accommodated in the room which was occupied by the previous Minister, Mr. K. Vanlalauva.

The new Cabinet Minister, Mr. S. Hiato met senior officers of PHE and Industry Department in his office chamber today and discussed the on going projects and schemes already initiated by the previous ministry. The discussion included Greater Aizawl Water Supply Scheme Phase-II which can presently function with half of its capacity. The Minister underlined the urgent need to complete the scheme as per the plan. Mr. S. Hiato had started attending his office from 29th of December last year.

The new Cabinet Minister, Mr. PC Zoramsangliana discussed urgent matters relating to his Departments today with senior officials. In a separate meeting, Senior officers of Transport, Art & Culture and Printing & Stationery Departments apprised him of the on going projects and schemes with their achievements. Mr. PC Zoramsangliana had already started attending his office works with effect from 29th December last year.

Among the new Ministers who held meeting with the Department officers today included Mr. H. Liansailova. In this meeting, the Directors and other officers of Agriculture and Fishery Department apprised him of the on going schemes and their suggestions for implementation of the remaining works with the existing funds.

The process of Special Summary Revision of Mizoram Electoral Rolls begins today. The Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Lalmalsawma told ZONET that the Draft Rolls have been displayed in various offices including the office of District Election officer, Electoral Registration Officer, Asst. Electoral Registration Officer, Designated officers, VCP and Booth Level Agents. The display is to continue till the 20th of this month inviting claims and objections from the general public in Form, 6, 7, 8 or 8-A. Claims for inclusion in the electoral rolls on the basis of Ist January 2009 as a qualifying date will be settled and disposed of by the Election Officials by 10th February which is the date fixed for publication of the final electoral rolls. Meanwhile photography for issue of Elector’s Photo Identity Card will also be taken up side by side.

Salvation Army Youth of Aizawl Temple Corps handed over their gift to Motherless Babies Home in Aizawl yesterday. The gift consisting of Washing machines, Aquaguard and other few items were handed over to the Home in charge by Mr KS Thanga, MLA. The presents were purchase with the donations received by the Corps during Coffee Nite organized on the Christmas eve in front of Aizawl Temple.

The construction of Chief Secretary’s Bungalow is allegedly delayed because of contradicting instructions given by numerous authorities against the original plan. The construction of the bungalow is still going on though the target date of completion was December last year. Giving reason for delay in the construction work, the NBCC officials and the contractor ‘City Mawia Construction Ltd.’ blamed numerous authorities who altered the approved original plan and drawing made by the Architect.

Today is the coldest day during this winter and the maximum temperature recorded by the Planning and Programme Implementation Department in Aizawl is 22.6 degree Celsius and the minimum was 10.5 degree Celsius.
