All communities meet resolves for harmony in Manipur

Imphal, March 01 2009: A meet with the theme "Peace and Development" participated by representatives of all communities living together in Manipur held today at Hmar Community Hall, Lamphel has resolved to leave behind the ideology of belongingness to a particular community for creating harmony among the communities. The meet organized by the Miyamgi Yaipha Lup, Lamphel was also attended by MP, Dr. T Meinya, MLAs, Khasim Ruivah, Awangbou Newmai, Dokhongmang Haokip, Nandakumar and president of the organizing body Koireng as panel members.

Observation of two minute silent to pay tributes to the departed soul of SDO, Kasom Khullen, Dr Kishan and his two staffs, Rajen and Token at Senapati last month marked the opening function of the meet.The meet while exploring the need of bringing harmony among the different communities living together from time immemorial resolved to take up steps to strengthen the bond of love among the people of different communities and build a community hall as a symbol of co-existence at Lamphel area and belong to all communities.

It also resolved to press the state authority to take up works for improvement of road communication and other.Speaking at the meet, MP, Dr Meinya said, "To forget that we are human being is not good.

Men killed men when he forgets that he is a human being.

A man feel happy when he killed other fellow men, then he is the most cruel man".

Everybody should not forget that India is a democratic country which every community has the right to live, Dr Meinya said.

He further said "We must protect ourselves and when it is a must to think twice of hurting the rights of other before one do something." Civilization has brought about the division of men into communities.

Now, time has come to know that origins of men are one and leave the notion of binding by community and live together in harmony.

Insisting the gathering not to identify themselves as Meetei, Tangkhul or any other and instead proudly claim as "I am Manipuri," the MP said adding that this will help in leaving the communal feeling.

He also observed that all problems facing by the people of the state could be sorted out if give the light of education to everybody.MLA, Dr Kashim Ruivah who also spoke at the meet said that the murder of Dr Kishan and his two staff was a "very shocking" incident but it will not be a true to take political advantage of it.

Some political parties are trying to take advantage of the murder incident, it is a very unfortunate thing, he observed.The MLA from Ukhrul district also called for befitting punishment to the guilty persons involved in the murder incident as per law.

Such killing should be condemned by all irrespective of caste, creed and community.

He also said that such time of cruel murder incident can be checked by share co-operation of all communities and masses extended co-operation to the government.
