Manipur body brands NSCN(IM) as ‘terrorists’

NEWMAI NEWS | IMPHAL, March 24 – The Joint Action Committee against the brutal killing of Dr Kishan and two others on Tuesday declared the NSCN-IM as a ‘terrorist’ organisation. Meanwhile, asserting that Chief Minister, O Ibobi Singh was not fit to be ‘a man’, the womenfolk carried out a phanek (typical Manipuri women’s wear) protest stating it was meant for the Chief Minister for being weak in giving justice.

The JAC during a press conference at Nagamapal in Imphal West district declared the NSCN-IM as a ‘terrorist’ group for failing to hand over the culprits involved in the trio’s murder to the Government of Manipur.

The JAC had set March 23 as a deadline for the Naga rebels to hand over the culprits to the Manipur Government.

During the conference, the womenfolk of the JAC informed that they will start hanging phanek on the residential gates of the Ministers and MLAs of the State.

Earlier, during the day the womenfolk were stopped from proceeding towards the official residence of the Chief Minister. However, later in the evening, the womenfolk as a mark of protest blocked Nagamapal road using phanek and shouted, ‘Ibobi wear phanek’, ‘Ibobi is not a man’.
