Churachadpur gets its Consumers Club

S Singlianmang Guite

Lamka, Sep 10: In the absence of any agency to address the woes of consumers for decades, Churachandpur is finally prepared to revive the consumers club that has surfaced once in the early 1990s.

Cheating consumers by selling commodities beyond the maximum retail prices, faulty measuring instruments, unreasonable increase in tuition fees of schools et al are prevalent practices in the district, TS Suonkhomang Haokip Chairman of the Consumers Club Churachandpur told the media today and added that it would be sought to set things right.

Revived under the patronage of CDSU, the consumers club here also seeks to attain the consumers’ grievances through a complaint box and through their contact numbers at 9856262521 and 9862085895.

Registering any form of business establishment in the district and flaunt of signboards would be made mandatory said the club leaders even as they appealed to all concerned to rectify any slipup be it in their measurement, prices, expiry date or registration before September 23. The club pledged to take their own course of action to any offenders thereafter.
