IMPHAL, Sep 7: District level seminars on “The achievements of the Central Government (UPA) and State Government (SPF)” were organized today by various Block Level Mahila Congress Committees across the State. The seminars were organized with the objective of highlighting the progress of various initiatives and schemes taken up by the Central Government.
Speaking at the observation at Keishamthong, M. Priyomala, President of the Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (MPMCC) said that the Central and State leadership believes in empowering women and are working tirelessly to ensure their greater political involvement and decision making.
Similar seminars were organized by the Lamlai Block Mahila Congress Committee; Yaiskul Block Mahila Congress Committee; Tamenglong District Mahila Congress Committee; Thoubal District Mahila Congress Committee besides others.
The seminars lauded the initiatives of the Central Government particularly those aimed at creating enabling environments for women: protection of women from domestic violence; pasing laws baring the arrest of women at night; the Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act and earmarking women under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act besides a host of other financial schemes and initiatives.
