Army Recruitment rally in Manipur, Army set up Computer Center in Saikot

IMPHAL, April 6: “Those who don’t make it this time need not loose heart for we will organize many more such rallies in the future” these were the words of major general Shakti Gurung, VSM, GOC 57 Mountain Division on March 4, 09. True to his words the GOC has been in touch with various agencies and the Army Boys Sports Company of Artillery Center (Hyderabad) is arriving in Imphal to carry out a recruitment rally. The rally will be conducted from April 12-14, 2009 for the following disciplines-atheletics, boxing and basketball.

The venue will once again be Koirenggei, old airfield company location of 165 Infantry Battalion (TA) (H&H). The age group of boys who will be screened for selection is 11 to 14 years. All boys who have passed their fifth clast and have participated at the minimum level of Manipur state, desirous of being selected are required to report at Koirenggei on April 12, 2009 at 9 am at the reception center which will be established there for them. The candidates are required to come with the following certificates like last time date of birth, qualification, level of participation and two passport size photographs. All certificates must be in original along with photopocies.

Forms can be collected from the Directora of Youth Affairs and Sports, Imphal and 57 Mountain Division, Leimakhong or the office of PIB (Def), a release of the Press information Bureau (Defence Wing), Government of India said.


Computer centre in Saikot Village

IMPHAL, April 6: 3 (NH) Bn Assam Rifles fo 27 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) inaugurated a computer training centre today for children home “Love in Action” at Saikot village, Churachandpur district children home “ Love in Action” is an orphanage run by a dedicated team of volunteer people. There are over 250 children supported by home. There are over 250 children supported by home. The computer training centre was inaugurated by Commandant 3 (NH) Bn Assam Rifles. The newly opened Training Centre would provided facilities for training they young orphans in information technology. Total of three computer sets with TFT screens, printers, UPS, computers tables with chairs were presented to the Children home.

The project was undertaken by personal initiative of Madhuri Choudhary wife of major general AK Choudhary, AVSM, SM, VSM, IG AR (South) during her visit to the children home. During her visit in November 8 she felt the need for computer education as a medium of learning in the present day. This project will provide an opportunity to all children to get introduced to a subject that provide immense scope for them in future. The Assam Rifles over the past three years in Churachandpur working towards providing such opportunities for the locals, a release of the HQ IGAR said.

Poll station

IMPHAL, Apr 6: The Manipuri Diaspora Association, New Delhi, has submitted an application to the ECI for setting up a polling station at Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi as done in the case of Jammu and Kashmir.
