The Chief Executive Officer of Mizoram State Health Care Society, Dr. Sangzuala Pachuau asked Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company to refund rupees 10 crore public money invested in the Insurance Company without penalty. In a letter written to the Senior Divisional Manager, Chitaranjan Singh, the Chief Executive Officer informed him that 10 crore rupee invested in the Company should have been invested in the name of Mizoram State Health Care Society not in the name of 17 individuals.

Terming the investment in the name of individuals as un-ethical business practice which has been done without the knowledge of the officials. The Chief Executive Officer also clarified that 11 individuals utilizing the money for investment in the Company were relatives of the former Health Minister. The CEO further clarified that the consent of 6 officials whose names figured in the list of investors was not taken.

Meanwhile Health Minister Mr. Lalrinliana Sailo asserted that Mizoram State Health Care Scheme will be continued in a better way after expiry of the present contract term on the 9th of this month to benefit poor people of the state. In reply to our Corr. the Health Minister said, the new Government cannot shake off its responsibility to correct blunders committed by the previous Government and it continues to exert pressure on Reliance Company to clear up the pending medical reimbursement bills. He also reiterated investment of 10 crore rupees in Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company by the relatives of the former Health Minister.

In connection with Parliamentary elections to be held on the 16th of this month Mizoram People Forum (MPF) has decided to organize a common platform for all the four candidates next Monday. Conveying this information to ZONET, the General Secretary of MPF, Mr. Lalramthanga said, the common platform to be shared by the candidates will be arranged in Aizawl Central Hall, Venghlui at 1 pm next Monday.

Mizoram Primary Hindi Teachers Association asked their members to continue voluntary service in their respective schools. In a press release the Hindi Teacher Association also made clear that their members are asked to continue voluntary service for their students despite discontinuation of their engagement under the 10th Plan by the end of March this year.

The people of Chaltlang objected the proposed taking over of a portion of their land at Chhimluang and Vawngawn for setting up Brigade Hqrs. In a press release, Chaltlang Village Council President made clear that the people of the locality consulted in a meeting held last night has raised this objection by passing unanimous resolution.

Chief Secretary, Mr. Vanhela Pachuau reminded senior officers that deliberate violator of rules will not be spared. Addressing Secretaries of the Government of Mizoram yesterday, the Chief Secretary underlined the need to show exemplary, honesty and sincerity in their respective assignments without showing special favour to anyone. He also stressed the need to maintain punctuality and integrity which are the core need of the Government servants at this juncture.

Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) announced the result of Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination held this year. In Arts 57.52 percent passed in the examination while 55.29 percent passed in Science stream. In Commerce the pass percentage was 48.25 percent. When the result was put up in the notice board of MBSE this morning, mixed reaction was seen when hundreds of students rushed together to see their results……… In Arts, of the 5186 total candidates, 3 passed in distinction, 178 in first division, 793 in second division and 2063 in third division. In Science stream, of the 1700 candidates, 12 passed in distinction, 250 in first division, 513 in second division and 165 passed in third division. In Commerce, 1 candidate passed in distinction, 23 in first division, 63 in second division and 106 in third division out of the total of 400 candidates. Talking to ZONET Corr. the MBSE Chairman, Mr. Laldawngliana termed the result as an indicator of improvement in division while there is decline in the pass percentage.

Physical fitness test was held for 68 candidates for Delhi Police constable today in the Ist MAP Parade Ground in Armed Veng. The physical fitness test was supervised by Inspector, R. Lalrinmawia.

The Chief Justice of Guahati High Court, Justice J. Chalameshwar and the Ambassador of India to Myanmar, Mr. Aloke Sen called on the Chief Minister, Mr. Lal Thanhawla in his residence last evening. The two dignitaries discussed with the Chief Minister the progress of border trade between India and Myanmar at Champhai-Rih sector. The Chief Justice visited Aizawl to inspect the new Raj Bhawan building in New Capital Complex which is being handed over for Mizoram High Court building.

The Election Commissioner, Dr.S.Y Quraishi is arriving in Aizawl tomorrow to see for himself the on going preparation for Parliamentary election to be held on the 16th of this month. He will meet Political Party leader, Returning Officers, Security Officers and the Chief Secretary at Raj Bhawan separately tomorrow afternoon. He will also addressed the press conference after meeting with the officials.

Meanwhile Booth Level Officers in Aizawl District were given a day training in Vanapa Hall today. Four BLOs who made exemplary performance in preparation of the electoral rolls and the last elections were given a cash award in recognition of their good service.

Senior Police Officers discussed security arrangement being made for the Parliamentary elections today. The meeting was presided over by the DGP, Mr. Lalrokhuma Pachuau and it was attended by the DIG North Range, Southern Range, District SPs and Commandants of the Police Battalions. Addressing the meeting, the DGP asked the Police Officers to perform their duty with honesty and dedication during the forth coming elections.

World Health Day was observed today. In a function held at Health Department’s Conference Hall, the message of the Health Minister, Mr. Lalrinliana Sailo was read out. In his message the Minister asked the doctors to see that the hospitals are prepared to meet any eventuality in the event of natural calamity. A seminar was also organized on the World Health theme selected for this year.

The contractor of Greater Aizawl Water Supply Scheme Phase II, Johnson Eastern Power has resumed his work after a gap of 7 months. The Principal Secretary in charge of Public Health Engineering Department, Mrs. L. Tochhawng told ZONET that the contractor has resumed the work yesterday to give power connection to one of the Electric Pumping Sets for pumping more water during the current dry season.
