Kuki National Organisation appeals for peace

From M Kaimuanthang | Lamka, June 2 : Over the Chandel incident, the Kuki National Organisation, KNO's information and publicity secretary Lenin H Kuki has made yet another press releases today in which it has reiterated
its appeal for peace and avowed commitment for mutual understanding amongst the Kuki groups.

It said since the unfortunate shoot out incidents which broke out at Gunjil Village in Chandel District on the 11th May last the initiatives for peace in the area and for the reconciliatory measures taken up by the KNO has not yielded the desired results as the UKLF still maintains hardnosed attitude so far.

Contrary to the reported statement in some of the local dailies based at Imphal on the 1st June last , under the caption , "KNO/KNA declares War "the release has said that since its its inception it never declares war upon any group fighting for the cause of indigeneous people much less upon its brothers.

" The KNO and its armed wings are primarily devoted for resurrecting Kuki self governance in Kuki ancestral land and out fight is against those who lay claims on Kuki ancestral teritories particularly those who killed and maimed our people to forcibly occupy our lands and those who deny us the right to gevern ourselves " said the realease of Lenin Kuki.

Stating that in this grave moment of instigated crisis it appeals to Kuki Brethren in the UNLF to free themselves from the shackles of those holding them captive and join forces with those struggling for Kuki national rights.

The KNO reiterated that for the prevalence peace and tranquility and abve all for the peaceful negotiated settlement of the Kuki question, an SoO was signed with the Govt of India.

It further said bent upon stalling any progress of such agreement, certain Kuki elements are out to create chaos and confusion while calling the Kuki people in general and the UKLF in particular not to fail in death trap laied by such elements.
