Imphal, May 31 2009: Establishment of a B Sc Nursing College and Regional Institute of Women and Child Healthcare in Manipur apart from upgradation of the existing Nursing School, Lamphel, Imphal to a full-fledged college of nursing have been included in the revised list of priority new schemes
proposed by the government of Manipur for the inclusion in the 11th Five Year plan of the North Eastern Council (NEC).
According to official sources that revealed on Sunday.
In the health sector, the state government has proposed for the upgradation of the existing Nursing School, Lamphelpat, Imphal to a full fledged College of Nursing, establishment of Shija College of Nursing for B Sc Nursing programme with estimated cost of Rs 12.43 crore and establishment of Shija Regional Institute of Women and Child Healthcare with Rs 11 crore estimation and the establishment of blood bank at Shija Hospitals, Langol with the involvement of Rs 2.76 crore.
In the power sector, the state government proposed for taking up works for replacement of old conductors and insulators of Yurembam-Mao and Leimatak-Jiribam 132 KV transmission line with Rs.27.42 crores, second circuit D/C lines from Yaingangpokpi to Kakchnig with Rs 36.42 crores), another second circuit D/C lines from Kakching to Churachandpur (Rs 11.18 crores).
It also included to the augmentation of 132/33 KV three sub-staitons at Yurembam, Ningthou-khong and kakchnig (Rs 22 crores) and seven solar wind hybrid projects (with Rs 2.18 crores, NEC share) and 10 new micro hydro projects with Rs 13.94 crores.
Upgradation of science centre to popularise science and IT programmes in the state under science and technology sector and establishment of common facility centre and toy making institute-cum-produciton centre at Imphal which draft project report has been submitted are also included in the list which Manipur government wanted to take on priority basis.
The government of Manipur further wanted to include the upgradation of Thanlon-Sinzawl road (30 km, Rs 40 crore) and Tamenglong-Tamei road (47 km, Rs 40 crores) apart from another Kangpokpi to Tamei road (70 km, Rs 75 crores) in the 11th Five Year Plan of the NEC.
Development of one tourist circuit "Integrated Development of Tourist Circuit (Imphal-Noney-Jiribam also been proposed.
The government also expressed its willingness on taking NEC support in the organization of sports events and skill development and capacity building, expansion of scheme for diversification of agronomical crops (double cropping) currently undergoing at Bishnupur district to other districts of Manipur, strengthening and continuous production of Breeder seed potato in Manipur (Rs 4.98 crors project) which DPR had already furnished.
The state government also insisted to include another project for setting up Livestock Feed plant of 100 tones at Thoubal district with Rs 4.5 crores estimate which DPR had already provided to the NEC in 2008.
