Vice President to inaugurate Hornbill Fest

NEWMAI NEWS | KOHIMA, Nov 29 – Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari will inaugurate the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland on December 1 at Naga Heritage Complex at Kisama near Kohima. He will also inaugurate the World War II Museum at the Complex the same day.

Governor of Nagaland K Sankaranarayanan will be the chief host during the inaugural programme.

The day’s festivities will begin with traditionally welcoming the chief guest marked by yelling and yodeling by all cultural troupes and beating of log drums in the ‘morungs’.

Hornbill Music Festival set to rock Northeast

The annual winter ritual of Hornbill festival which takes place in Kohima, Nagaland, is set to rock the Northeast region once again, with 22 bands from all over the country participating in the rock party..

Twenty-two bands from the Northeastern region and other parts of the country will rock the forthcoming Hornbill Music Festival from December 4 to 7 at Kohima, which is an integral part of annual Hornbill Festival of Nagaland.

The production and events are managed by XK, a tested and reliable event management organisation and the event is being organised by Music Task Force (YRS), Nagaland. Renowned Indian band ‘Parikrama’ will perform on December 6. The final day on December 7, people will witness the finale of ‘Airtel Presents Hornbill National Rock 2008’. Vice President of India, Dr Hamid Ansari will formally declare the Hornbill Music Festival open, in presence of Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on December 1 at 5 pm.

On December 1 and 3, there will be no tickets, from December 4 to 7 the tickets rates are fixed Rs 30 (Gallery), Rs 300 (Admit two-daily patron) and Rs 1,000 (Admit two season ticket).
Number of bands selected: 17 from outside Nagaland and five from Nagaland.
