Celebration of Korea-India friendship through music

Kohima, Nov 15: The much hyped Korea-India Music Festival, 2008, which is also a goodwill concert to celebrate friendship between Korea and Nagaland, India has been scheduled for 2nd of next month coinciding with Hornbill Festival of Nagaland. It will be held at the New Secretariat Plaza in Kohima. Addressing a press conference in Kohima today, producer of Korea-India Festival, Abu Metha expressed hope that the ties of friendship between Korea and Nagaland would further be deepened. He also revealed that similar programme would be organized next year in Korea.

MLA and Advisor of Music Task Force, Nagaland, Dr. Nicky Kire said that it was though the initiatives of Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio that the relationship is being built up between the two countries through music. He also expressed hope that more a music industry would be possible through such programme.

A total of fifteen delegates are expected to come to Nagaland from Arirang TV, Korea led by the vice president of the channel, said the festival director, Theja Meru. He also said that celebrity singers and dancer VJ Isac from Seoul, Korea and renowned singer Ilac would also be performing during the festival at Kohima.

Another interesting feature of the concert will be the solo competition where ten Naga singers will compete in the Korean Song competition for prizes to be given away by the Arirang TV.

The event will also witness the participation of a Manipuri Sword Dance and Boomereng from Mizoram, he said while adding that a special event has been arranged for the clubbers and all music lovers with VJ Isac on December 3 at Kisama during Hornbill Festival.
