IMPHAL, Dec 21: With the successful completion of four rounds of meetings on the Suspension of Operation between the Kuki militant oufits headed by UPF and KNO, the Joint Monitoring Group of the government has been able to finalise the process for issue of identity cards to around 1745 cadres of Kuki militant groups out of a total of 2519 Kuki militants proposed for official identification by the government during the recent meeting held between the JMG and leaders of the Kuki militant groups under Suspension of Operation, SoO.
According to a highly placed official source, during the recent meeting between the JMG and leaders of the Kuki militant groups a list of 500 cadres of KRA, 377 cadres of KNF(P), 419 cadres of UKLF, 111 cadres of KLA, 717 cadres of ZRA, 250 cadres of KNF(S), 110 cadres of HPC and 45 cadres of ZDV have been proposed by the Kuki groups for official recognition.
Above this, 23 numbers of designated camps operating under different Kuki militant groups have also been proposed for official identification during the meeting. The camps include in the areas of Angkhuino, Vangai Ridge, Parvachon under Parbung police station in Churachandpur district and Tipaimukh areas operated by HPC (D), Nathanjang Chongkhonjou under Thanlon police station jointly operated by KNF(S), KNF(P) and ZDV, Chelap in Chandel district operated by UKLF, N Phaisat under Henglep sub-division operated by KNF(S), T Gamnom and L Songphel areas under Seikul sub-division operated by KRA, Salam Patong under Andro operated by the KRA, Songtal in Thanlon sub-division operated by ZRA, Leijanphai under Tipaimukh operated by UKLF, G Tonjang in Churachandpur operated by KRA, Thinkeu in Henglep operated by ZRA, Ngaijang Aimol in Tengnoupal sub-division operated by KRA, S Lengthengnom in Chakpikarong sub-division operated by KNF, Mouelphai/T Hangnom at Sajik Tampak operated by UKLF, Vaitonphai in Kangpokpi and Sehjang/Gomnom in Sapermeina operated by KNF(P), T Khanjang/Thinghat in Singhat operated by ZRA, G Tanjang/Tuining areas in Singhat operated by ZRA, Maphou dam operated by KRA and Samusang area in Seikul jointly operated by KLA/KRA.
The official source said the designated camps at Angkhuino under Parbung police station operated by the HPC(D), Nanthanjang/Chongkhonjou under Thanlon police station jointly operated by KNF(S), KNF(P) and ZD, Chelap in Chandel district operated by the UKLF and Samusang area under Seikul sub-division operated jointly by the KLA and KRA had been recently recognised as official designated camps after official visits by the officials of JMG and six designated camps including Mouel Vaiphei and Nathajang in Sadar hills, Parvachom, N Pahisat and Leijanphai in Churachandpur and Vangai ridge in Tamenglong district were proposed for official recognition as designated camps.
This was during the recent meeting between the JMG and leaders of the Kuki militants under Suspension of Operation held on December 19 at the 1st MR Banquet Hall attended by the state principal secretary home, DS Poonia, Binoyranjan Jha, deputy director, SIB, Col Sanjay Gupta GS (HQ) IGAR (South), Rajesh Dhakarwal, Commandant CRPF, Lt. Col D Mishra GSD (Int) 57 Mt Div, KMS Rao assistant director SIB, Maj S Jung, HQ IGAR (S) and seven other representatives of Kuki militant groups.
