LAMKA, Jan 21: The Zomi Students Federation called a lightning bandh today from 2.30 pm protesting the killing of Zamkhothawng, 55, wife of Ngainei of B Phaicham the night before yesterday at New Zoveng locality near Kamdou Veng. The person`s dead body was retrieved by the district police at about 10.30 am yesterday and was deposited at the morgue for identification and post mortem.
He was apparently killed with a blunt weapon as he bore marks of assault by a blunt weapon.
The ZSF insisted that his body will not be claimed before an amicable solution is reached over the killings.
Such type of grotesque killings are not uncommon particularly in the area where the body was found. Earlier, just before Christmas a person was killed and this is the first of its kind in the new year.

With the Sperintendant of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, the Zomi Leaders reached an amicable agreement that the deceased would be pay an ex-gratia and the culprits should be book at the earliest possible time. - LenlaiNews
