Mizoram News, Mizoram government is concern about derogatory mobile video

The Home Minister, Mr. R. Lalzirliana deplored repeated use of mobile phones for circulation of pictures which are intended to assassinate the character of some popular girls. Talking to media persons in his office today, the Home Minister said, the Government is keenly observing this new development and investigate into it to fix responsibility on the culprit. Explaining penalties which can be awarded to such persons, the Law Minister, Mr. Lalsawta said, the culprit involved in the production and circulation of the derogatory video can be punished as per the law and deserved strong condemnation.

The SP, Mr. Lalbiakthanga Khiangte also said, circulation of a film, book, slide, drawing and painting on such picture which victimize a person or persons can be punished under the law which may extend up to 2 years imprisonment and fine at the first instance and up to 6 years imprisonment and fine if it is a repetition. The Home Minister also said that the Government is issue an order to ban sale of petrol and diesel oil outside the petrol pump as a precautionary measure to prevent possible fire accident.

Meanwhile MHIP also condemned such derogatory act which assassinate the character of popular girls. In a press release, the MHIP also said that they will react to such cruelty to bring about public condemnation of the crime.

Preparations are going on for the Budget session of the Legislative Assembly which begins on 17th of this month. Finance Department is busy in preparations of the budget for the next financial year which will be passed for a few months on vote on account. As already stated earlier, the Governor, Lt. Gen. MM Lakhera is to address the session on the opening day and the budget will be presented by the Chief Minister on the 23rd of this month. Till today the Assembly Secretariat has received 60 starred questions, 14 unstarred question and 2 proposals for private member’s resolution.

One injured person admitted to Greenwood Hospital succumbed to his injury last night. According to Bawngkawn Police sources, a Taxi driver who found an injured person lying on the roadside picked him up and admitted to Greenwood Hospital without knowing the identity of the person. The diseased was later identified to be Hmangaihsanga of Pawlrang village who used to drive Taxi.

A new Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM) has been constituted by the Government to bridge possible gap between the Government and its servants. The Chief Secretary is to head the JCM while the DP & AR Secretary is to act as the Secretary. Official members include Finance Secretary, GAD, Law and Judicial, Labour and Employment, Transport, Education and PWD Secretary. 15 persons drawn from various Departments and professions represent the Government employees in the Joint Consultative Machinery.

Police seized 2 canes of Heroin at Bawngkawn last Saturday night along with two persons. In an interrogation, one of the accused Albert Lalngaihsanga of Thuampui accused Khawtinkhupa of Myanmar to be the owner of the heroin while the Myanmar national is dumb. In another incident Bawngkawn Police apprehended Lalthakima of Hunthar Veng while he was robbing a shop at Bawngkawn.

The process of Political polarization has begun for the forth coming Lok Sabha and Assembly bye elections in South Tuipui District. In reply to ZONET Corr, the MNF President, Mr. Zoramthanga said, the Party Executive Committee is meeting tomorrow and discuss the proposal made by the Office Bearers for making electoral alliance with other Regional Parties. Meanwhile the MPC also invited the Regional Parties including, BJP Mizoram Pradesh for formation of a common front with consensus candidate for both the elections. The ZNP Office Bearers meeting held today also discussed this issue and left the entire matter to be decided by the Executive Committee which will be held on the 12th of this month.

Health Care Programmes to be taken up under National Rural Health Mission for the year 2009-2010 was approved today in a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Mr. Vanhela Pachuau. The meeting also decided to include Engineer in Chief of the PWD, Power Department and PHE besides the Health Department officers. The meeting also agreed to expedite the on going work for upgradation of Aizawl Civil Hospital.

15 Jawan of the 10th Assam Rifles donated blood for the patients in Aizawl Civil Hospital. Their blood was drawn by the blood bank officials in the Hospital blood bank. KTP Keifang also donated 46 units of blood in the same hospital last Saturday along with 13 UPC youths.

The Chief Minister, Mr. Lal Thanhawla said, the Government is trying to boost power production to meet the growing need of industries. Addressing Mizoram Industry Expo - 2009 at Tourist Lodge, Chaltlang which focuses on ‘Prospects for Economic Development of Mizoram’. The Chief Minister said, the foundation stone of 210 mega watt Tuivai Hydel Project is expected to be laid next year. He also said that Tung cultivation will be renewed as the market is readily available. The Chief Minister said, the abandon natural wealth of Mizoram including bamboo will be utilized for development of cottage industries by setting up Bamboo Processing Zone and Industries. The meeting was also addressed by Agriculture Minister, Mr. H. Liansailova and Industry Minister, Mr. S. Hiato. The Mizoram Industry Expo 2009 was organized jointly by DONER, Confederation of Indian Industry and Mizoram Chamber of Industry.

The 32nd Robula Chess Tournament kicks off in Aizawl today. The Tournament was inaugurated by the Sports Promotion Officer, Mr. Laltlanthanga at a function in Electric Veng YMA Hall. As many as 75 chess players are participating in the tournament.

Today, the maximum temperature of Aizawl City was 31 degree Celsius and the minimum was 20.1 degree Celsius.
