IMPHAL, May 5: Claiming to be an autonomous revolutionary group which was formed in the year 2008 to save the territorial integrity of Manipur, the Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front, MNRF, has made known its stand against anyone big or small who challenges and tries to bring disunity among the people of Manipur, while threatening to strike against such enemies of the party.
A release from the group’s publicity secretary, C Rocky said the outfit was formed under the leadership of Allen Siro and unlike the NSCN(IM) does not claim to be a government, but is a revolutionary group working for the welfare of the people of Manipur.
The MNRF has said it does not collect house tax, ration tax but helps the people in the areas it operates, although it has also said that it will collect 3 percent as party funds from any development work, contract, scheme and employees of the government offices etc.
Flaying the NSCN(IM) for its arbitrary policies it has said the NSCN(IM) considers itself a government, imposes taxes, exempt and give order to award contract or supply schemes to a few hand-picked contractors along with projecting election candidates by depriving the rights of the people under the behest of the gun.
Asking if the NSCN(IM) thinks it can solve the Naga problem by sending a lone MP from the Outer Manipur seat, the MNRF questioned why NSCN(IM) leader Th Muivah does not fight the elections himself instead of capturing votes for Mani Cheranamei by harassing other candidates.
It further asked the NSCN(IM) what it had done for the Naga people as a government as also for the welfare of their cadres who had sacrificed their lives for their cause.
It also questioned how the ordinary people who joined the NSCN(IM) and became officers suddenly started living opulent lives, wondeing if the NSCN(IM) had a system of salary for its members.
The MNRF also appealed in its release to all armed organisations of the region to work and go hand in hand by reasoning together for their cause, stating that they would only become laughing stocks if they could not cooperate among themselves.

Imphal, May 4: High tension erupted at the Senapati district headquarter and Saikul sub-division of the Senapati district in Manipur following the murder of a vehicle owner after abduction by some unidentified persons and a village youth allegedly murdered by the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel attached to the Saikul police station.
Civil societies of the district are putting up all efforts to ease the rising tension by holding public meetings at the said two places Monday even as commercial vehicle operators gathered at Senapati district headquarter demanding justice in the murder case.
The vehicle owner identified as Kholli Obhoyuo, son of late Kholli Mao of Tumuyon Khullen village of Kangpokpi sub-division in Senapati district who was abducted by some unknown persons along with his vehicle (Mahindra Jeep) bearing registration No. NL-01-2472 was found murdered on Sunday.
Sources informed miscreants abducted him Wednesday, April 29 from Senapati Bazar and his dead body was found Sunday at Khabung village of the district. His vehicle, which he used as a passenger taxi, was said to have been sold, sources added.
The situation of the vehicle came to light when police swung into action on receipt of the information of the abduction of the driver and recovered it on the same day at a place in Lower Phaibung. It was already sold out by the abductors.
Police claimed to have detained some suspects related to the crime. However, the police refused to disclose the identity of the suspected culprits.
Since the discovery of the dead body of the vehicle owner, tension has gripped the villagers of the village where the deceased belonged and also at the village where the dead body was found.
In this regard, the Naga People’s Organization (NPO) held a public meeting at Senapati district headquarters Monday with a view to ease the prevailing tension and to bring about an amicable solution.
Addressing the meeting, M Dailii of NPO stated the meeting was being held to calm down the people and maintain peace in the area and asserted the passenger bus operators in the district headquarters were demanding justice in the murder case.
However, prior to the meeting, operators of the taxi passenger service vehicles gathered at Senapati Bazaar and carried out a protest decrying the murder of their colleague.
On the other hand, tension also brew up at Saikul sub-divisional headquarters of the district after a mob torched police station there as a village youth died in gun firing by the IRB personnel attached at the police station Sunday night.
Police reports informed the student identified as a 19-year old Palun Mate studying in Standard-XI was hit by a stray bullet of the 4th IRB when suspected militants attacked them Sunday night at about 8.30 pm.
However, villagers, countering the statements of the IRB, alleged that the IRB personnel fired from the station after some drunken personnel outside the station were asked not to use hate language against passersby. They also fired toward a group of women who entered the station to ask for the reason behind the firing of guns, the villagers alleged. In protest, villagers burnt down the police station later in the night.
A public meeting convened late Monday afternoon reportedly decided to press the government to take out the IRB from the station and book those IRB personnel involved in the firing of guns. The meeting also resolved to demand adequate compensation for the family of the deceased, reports here said.
