KSO details its education policy

IMPHAL, Jan 28: In the interest of promoting quality education in the district, Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), Chandel district has appealed to all the heads of the schools and teachers in Chandel district to perform their duties diligently in sync with its Education Reformation Policy under the theme of ‘Come, let us rebuild education’. In this regard, the student body has also charted out certain course of actions to be taken up towards achieving its educational goal.

Accordingly, starting from the academic session of 2009-10, all Government schools inclusive of scho-ols under District Council, Grant-in-aid and EGS/AIE under SSA should conducting regular classes in accordance to the academic calendar issued and published by the department concerned, the statement body said in a statement.

The statement signed by its secretary (education) Jamlen Haokip further said that all the outstation school headmasters and teachers should make it a point to locate themselves at their respective place of posting for smooth functioning of their institutions without any delay and in case of failure appropriate action would be taken up against hem in consultation with the Department concerned.

In respect of EGS/AIE under SSA, the student body informed that the VEC and the village chiefs concerned have already been notify to strictly follow the guidelines of the program-me implementation.

The officer concerned dealing the SSA implementation under ZEO Chandel should disbursed the fund sanctioned by the State Authority to the respective EGS/AIE schools/centre through proper channel in time and the NGOs which had not carried out the assigned task properly should be cancelled from the list, the student body demanded.

All the block level units of KSOs have also been entrusted to keep strict vigil and spot inquiry of the schools under their respective jurisdiction, the student body further informed, while appealing to all the students to abstain from using unfair means in the forthcoming HSLC, JNV entrance test and Higher Secondary Examination to uphold the KSO Education Reformation Policy.
Furthermore, the student body while drawing the attention of the Chief Minister, the TD Minister and other officers concerned to the memorandum submitted on December 23, 2008 requesting to conduct the DPC of Primary Teachers under District Council in a transparent manner, the student body firmly stated that it would not entertain recruitment of persons on he basis of the so called panel list, adhoc teachers, long-suffered, etc.

Bamboo flowering, Relief for victims send

IMPHAL, Jan 28: The State Government has today despatched the first phase of the relief materials for the people of Chandel district who are at the verge starvation after their food crops have been destroyed by rodent in the wake of Bamboo flowering phenomenon.

The first consignment of the relief materials meant for the people living in 120 villages under Khengjoi, Chakpikarong and Moreh Block of Chandel district had been flagged off by MLA of Chandel Assembly Constituency Thangkhulun Haokip from Chandel district headquarters today.
The relief materials have been sanctioned under the Central Relief Fund.

Out of total 9874 quintal of rice sanctioned, for the first phase of relief distribution the trucks carrying 180 quintal of rice meant for the people of Khengjoi block and another 30 quintal of rice meant for the people of Chakpikarong block have been flagged off by the MLA from the district headquarters.

Speaking at the occasion, the MLA appealed to all the people and the organisations not to cause any disruption in the transportation of the relief materials meant for the affected villagers who are at the verge of starvation. He also assured that the Government would be able to provide all the necessary relief materials, specially the required rice quantity to the affected people of the district by March next.

The transporters have also been entrusted to do the needful in this regard, he added. Deputy Commissioner of Chandel District Ashokumar was also present at the occasion.

Bodies appeal

IMPHAL, Jan 28: In separate memoranda submitted to the General Manager, NF Railway, Maligaon, Guwahati, the Kuki Inpi Tamenglong District and Jiri Zone, Zomi Council Vangai-Jiribam Block and the JAC for Restoration of Railway Line Jiri-Tupul have appealed against the proposed re-alignment of the Jiri-Tupul railway line.

These bodies also appealed to restore the railway line to its original alignment.

In connection with the proposed realignment of the railway line, a joint meeting with the Kuki Inpi Tamenglong and Jiri Zone, the chiefs’ association, Zomi Council Jiri Zone and several prominent social workers on January 7 at Raniveng Jiribam.

After resolving to constitute a joint action committee (for restoration of Jiri-Tupul Railway line), the meeting agreed to hold another meeting on the same matter at Imphal at an early date.
All the members present in the meeting also pledged not to rest until an unless the proposed realignment of the railway line is cancelled.
