Kohima | February 10: The apex Naga students’ body, the Naga Students’ Federation today said the Manipur Government is the main hindrance in affiliating private schools from the four hill districts of Manipur to the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE). The four hill districts are Senapati, Ukhrul, Chandel and Tamenglong. Dwelling on the decreasing number of students from the hill districts of Manipur appearing matriculation examinations under the NBSE since 2005, NSF vice president Charles Lotha today said the decrease has been mainly because of policy threats from the Manipur Government.
The Manipur state government has been threatening private schools that they would be derecognized if any attempt was made to get registered beyond the Board of School Education of Manipur (BSEM).
The Manipur Government has become the main hindrance in affiliation of Manipur schools to Nagaland as it has not only threatened private schools but also stopped issuing No Objection Certificates to willing schools, the NSF leader said.
The NSF leader expressed regret that just 9 students this time, from Manipur have managed to qualify for the ensuing Nagaland High School Leaving Certificate examinations commencing from February 13.
Mention may be made here that a total number of 14,563 students, including 9 students from Manipur would be appearing the HSLC exams in 35 different NBSE centers, including government and private schools.
