IMPHAL, Feb 7: The general assembly of the United people’s Front (UPF), which is the apex body of the Kuki underground groups, held from January 31 till February 4 elected Thanglianpau Paite as Chairman, Roupi Hmar as the Vice-Chairman and St Thangboi Thadou as Secretary in addition to appointing Johnson Thadou, SN Thadou and T Samuel Thadou as the Joint Secretary, Information & Publicity Secretary and Treasurer respectively for the 2009-10 term.
Informing that three others were also elected as members of the umbrella organisation including ZDV, a statement issued by SN Thadou further confided of the assembly pledging to uphold and honour ground rules of the ongoing suspension of operation agreement.
Conveying New Year greeting to all the 22 Kuki tribes settled in and outside Manipur, the UPF also appealed to the Kuki brethren to support the political ideology so as to ‘bring miracle changes in the days to come.
