IMPHAL, May 10: The construction of church of Meitei Christians had been stopped at Lamsang following threats from a cadre of KYKL. A press release of Meitei Baptist Association said that a worker engaged in the construction was summoned by a person who was identified himself as one Tompok, Imphal West District Commander of KYKL and threatened not to continue construction or face capital punishment.
The association asked whether it is in the resolution of the party to interfere with one’s religious affairs. The association also pleaded the outfit to clarify through media in this regard. The association also extended appreciation to those who involved in extinguishing fire of Phumlou church on May 10.
ATSUM conducts assembly
IMPHAL, May 11: All Tribals Students’ Union Manipur has appointed its executives of assembly affairs and advisors in a federal assembly conducted at its office today.
The assembly also approved the endorsement of ATSUM executive’s statement on the matter involving the recruitment of 33 senior residents (MBBS/doctors) in JNIMS, Imphal. It also endorsed executive’s proposal of going for education survey covering the entire hill districts of the State.
The assembly also agreed to give more and consistent pressure to the State Government for the introduction of the reservation rules in the next State’s legislative assembly. The assembly also resolved to endorse ATSUM’s opposition to the scheduled Class VIII examination for all the schools in the five hill districts of the State.
