UNLF claims re-occupying lost New Somtal territory

IMPHAL, Feb 26: The Manipur People’s Army, army wing of the proscribed UNLF has re-occupied New Somtal, Layang and its surrounding areas from the “Indian Occupational Force, IOF” claimed the UNLF today.

UNLF’s senior publicity secretary, Ksh Yoiheiba of department of publicity in a statement today said that the said areas were occupied by the security forces during the ‘Operation Somtal-II’ launched by them since November last year to flush out MPA 293 battalion. However, the area had been re-occupied by the same MPA battalion, he added.

Stating that the security forces are camping at Old Somtal and Molcham area, the senior publicity officer said MPA is planning to push out the security forces from the area too.

In the meantime, reacting to the Assam Rifles statement of killing of six UNLF cadres at Thangbung Minou village at the international border, he said the incident has nothing do to with the UNLF or MPA.

The proud announcement of the AR giving a heavy blow to UNLF is a part of their propaganda to mislead the people, he refuted.

The statement while revealing that “IOF” is conducting operation targeting particularly UNLF, said that it was well known by the people that security forces were also continuing a propaganda war against the group.

This indicated that the struggle for independence launched by the UNLF/MPA was marching ahead and the Indian government was on the verge of losing.

But despite hard efforts by the security forces in the more than 20 battlefields, except losing one MPA cadre and casualties to some others, security forces could do nothing to them, he stated.

On the other hand, more than 20 personnel of the “IOF” lost their lives and many more suffered casualties, the statement claimed.
To MPA, IOF is nothing but a paper tiger, the statement finally stated
