Aizawl, Dec. 12: Mizoram chief minister Lalthanhawla today divided 32 portfolios between two of his cabinet colleagues, R. Lalzirliana and H. Liansailova, who were sworn in with him yesterday.
The chief minister retained 12 departments, including key ones like finance, public works, power and electricity, sports and youth services, urban development and poverty alleviation, food and civil supplies, health and family welfare and higher and technical education departments.
Veteran Congress legislator Lalzirliana got the home portfolio along with 11 departments — rural development, excise and narcotics, public health engineering and tourism being some of them.
Lalthanhawla gave his former private secretary and two-time legislator Liansailova some lucrative portfolios like agriculture, school education, information and public relations, parliamentary affairs, environment and forest, information and communication technology, industries and social welfare departments.
The distribution of all the departments could mean the chief minister is not in any hurry to expand his ministry, a source said.
