‘Original maps of Nagaland untraceable’

New Delhi, Dec 17: The Centre today said the original maps of Naga-land, sub- mitted to it by the State Govt in 1979, are now untraceable. In reply to a question on boundary dispute between Nagaland and Assam, Uni-on Home Minister P Chidambaram said in Rajya Sabha that the maps submitted by Nagaland Govt in Sept. 1979 could not be traced now. Though they were submitted to the Home Ministry, the Centre had referred these documents to the Assam Govt in October 1979, he added. Khekiho Zhimomi (Naga-land Peoples Front) wanted to know whether the original map of Nagaland prepared by the Geological Survey of India had been lost. PTI

Moreh bandh off

The Imphal-Moreh road bandh which has been imposed since December 6 to protest the torching of two vehicles has been called off following an agreement during a meeting between the Chief Minister, Transport Minister and representa-tives of the JAC Imphal-Moreh Road Transpor-ters. Normal flow of traffic will resume from tomorrow.

As decided during a meeting yesterday, the Joint Transport Associa-tion Executive Committee of Bus Association, Light Motor Vehicles’ Associa-tion and Auto-rickshaw Association, Senapati has stopped service between Mao and Imphal with effect from midnight of Dec 17 in protest against the twin incident of assaulting drivers at Senapai on Dec 16. The transporters had earlier set December 17 as the deadline to the authorities concerned for identifying the culprits and taking up necessary action.

NH-39 bandh

IMPHAL, Dec 17: In protest against the killing of one Maharabam Rajen (40) of Awang Sekmai Khunou Mathak under Imphal West district, the JAC formed in this connection has announced its decision of imposing an indefinite bandh along the National Highway 39 with effect from 6 am tomorrow.

The decision was arrived at during a public meeting held at Sekmai today. The JAC was also instituted during the public meeting.

All the shops in Awang Sekmai Bazar also remained shut down today in protest against the killing. Rajen, who ran a meat shop at Sekmai New Market was found shot dead by unidentified gunmen near his house at around 6.30 pm of December 13.

Along with registering an FIR case, the Sekmai Police have been investigating into the incident.
So far, no underground organisation or group have claim responsibility for the killing.

All those who spoke at the public meeting today, strongly condemned the killing. They also come out strongly against the excesses of both the security forces and the armed underground organisations.
