SOG meeting discusses possible fallouts of Indo-Naga talks

IMPHAL, Dec 15: The meeting of the state’s high level Strategic Operations Group, SOG, which was convened under the chairmanship of the chief minister at his official bungalow in Imphal this afternoon has chalked out the security measures to prevent any untoward incidents in the state in view of any unexpected fallouts of the recent peace talks between the government of India and leaders of the NSCN(IM) at Amsterdam.

The high-level state security meeting which was attended by the chief secretary, principal secretary home, high level officials of the para military forces like CRPF, Assam Rifles, army and BSF along with other district level state security officials also categorically discussed the ever increasing problems of law and order in the state including kidnapping of officials for ransom and killing of innocent civilians.

Most importantly the security meeting also discussed the formulation of ground rules for the recently initiated Suspension of Operation between one of the valley-based underground groups, the KCP(MC), and the government and sought possible modalities from various officers of the Central para military forces and the government officials.

Later, the review meeting of the state plan under Special Plan Assistance, SPA, was also convened by the chief minister at his official bunglow late this evening attended by all heads of department, commissioners, secretaries and directors of various departments and discussed the progress of various schemes implemented by different departments under SPA in the state for the financial year 2007-08 and 2008-09.

In the meantime, the chief minister during the plan review meeting this evening advised special attention for the various major projects being undertaken under the SPA for the early completion of the projects and assured to provide any requisite security measures for the timely completion of the projects during the meeting, the official source added.
